Hello, and thank you for visiting!

My name is Asa and I am a 46-year-old wife, mom, English teacher, and pro-age advocate.

I started my gray hair transition six years ago, revamped this blog on January 20th, 2019 and began my curly hair transition utilizing Lorraine Massey’s Curly Girl Method January 24th, 2019.

Sharing about all things over 40, specifically beauty and wellness,  and connecting with followers on my Instagram account and in my Facebook group is my true passion.

I’m pretty laid back so I make meals as simple as possible with as few ingredients as possible and usually carry on with minimal makeup and natural curls, but sometimes I like to glam it up a bit both in the kitchen and with my look: a pop of color, whether it be on my plate in the form of a new vegetable dish or from a bright lipstick can be enough to change my whole outlook.

I made the decision to go gray at 40 when diagnosed with an aggressive autoimmune disease, which also prompted a complete lifestyle overhaul. This is why I’m all about using safer products with real ingredients and eating real food.

The best definition for me? Late bloomer. After floundering around in college for what seemed like forever (probably longer if you ask my dad) eventually obtaining a culinary degree, an English degree, and an MS in education, I finally felt like a grown-up. Well, for the most part. I started my career late, found and married the love of my life later in life than most, and had our beautiful daughter at, “an advanced maternal age” (their words, not mine).

Blessed is also a word I use to describe my life despite (or in spite of) my rheumatoid arthritis. I am married to my best friend and we have an amazing daughter and a Siberian cat named Tatum (aka Tatey, Tater Tot, Tater, Floofer, and Fluffy Butt). I adore our little family.
